Hellenic Journal of Psychology (HJP)

Hellenic Journal of Psychology (HJP) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published in Greece every four months by the Psychological Society of Northern Greece.

The journal aims at (a) promoting psychological research and knowledge production in Greece and internationally; (b) making Greek and international psychological research accessible to scholars all over the world; (c) facilitating collaboration and exchange of ideas between psychologists working in Greece and all over the world; (d) supporting young researchers to present their work and learn the publication process through constructive feedback. The official languages of HJP are Greek and English.

To achieve the above goals HJP supports publication of individual articles and special issues that are conceptually driven and involve both Greek and non-Greek researchers. The journal welcomes articles in all areas of psychology and encourages young researchers to submit their work. Emphasis is given to constructive feedback to the authors through the
review process. The Hellenic Journal of Psychology publishes original research and theoretical articles that contribute to the development of new methodologies and deeper understanding of human behavior and experience in various settings. It considers both basic and applied research manuscripts of various methodological approaches as well as review articles that extend existing knowledge and have practical implications of interest to researchers and professionals.

Manuscripts submitted for publication in HJP should be prepared according to the guidelines of the APA Publication Manual (7th ed.). The articles are evaluated by two external reviewers in a blind review process. The reviewers are experts in the field of the research reported. The criteria of evaluation are: (a) Originality and contribution to extant knowledge; (b) The fit to the scope of the journal; (c) Adequacy of literature review and theory-driven research questions and hypotheses; (d) Design and use of state-of-the-art methodology; (e) Appropriateness of analytic methodology (both qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis are accepted); (f) Discussion and interpretation of results that shows their relevance to theory as well as their applied implications; (g) Clarity of presentation, and (h) Correct and unambiguous use of Greek or English language.

Manuscripts are submitted to the editor electronically at the journal site:

https://ejournals.lib.auth.gr/hjp

The review process is expected to be completed within approximately two months of receipt. More details regarding the submission of manuscripts to HJP are given in the Guidelines to Authors in the journal site.

Hellenic Journal of Psychology is indexed in Elsevier/SCOPUS and is included in the collection of the British Library, Saarlaendische Universitaets- und Landesbibliothek, and the European Reference Index for the Humanities and Social Sciences (Norwegian Centre for Research Data).

  2. Submitted manuscripts are sent for blind review to two experts in the field after an initial screening by the Editor. Decision on publication is based on the review-ers’ comments and evaluation.
  3. The formatting of the manuscripts should be as follows: A4 paper size, dou-ble-spaced and sufficient margins, in Times New Roman, font size 12.
